They say it’s the most wonderful time of the year, with joy and merriment ringing out for all to hear. But if you are stuck on campus during winter break, it could be so dull you might not stay awake. But do not whine, complain, or fret, for here are some fun things to do this winter, and stay out of debt!

1. Never Too Old to Play in the Cold

When the snow finally falls on campus grounds, old Frosty the Snowman will begin to make his rounds. The Quad is the place to play, with ample space to create and build away. Construct a fort or a house, or craft your own invention, there are so many possibilities, too many to mention. Bring along a group of friends to be sure the fun never ends. Pick teams, pack snow, and prepare to go. There is nothing more fun than a snow ball fight, under moon or sunlight.  

  

 

2. Don’t Think, Hit the Rink

Do you like slipping and sliding, skidding around and nearly colliding? Does a night on the ice sound twice as nice as sugar and spice? Then listen up because I have news worth stating, winter is the time to take yourself ice skating! The University Ice Arena, located at 406 Armory Ave, is a fun place to take your friends Christina and Chad. So Lace up your skates, put on you mittens, go out on dates, and have fun till the time is a quitten’. 

3. Heading to Sledding

Toboggan is to bargain that you’ll have a good time, so venture out on campus and find a hill to climb. Atop a sled, a disk, or tray “Weeeee!” is all you’ll be able to say. If you have a car and a wish not to go far, head to always good Mahomet's Lake of the Woods. Many a knoll down which you can roll, and allow the good times to fill up your soul.

4. Hey Dude, Get Some Food

So you’ve spent a day out in the cold, feet frozen solid like toe shaped gold. You need to warm your hands and your heart; here are some good places to start. Pop into Noodles & Co. for some hot pasta to dry up the snow. If you are feeling really freeze-a, pick up the phone and order some Rosati's Pizza. If the night has worn on, and the day is close to dawn, Insomnia Cookies has the perfect late night treat to stifle your yawn. 

However you choose to fill your days, keep in mind the words I say. The emptied out campus is a fun place to be, when you know all the things there are to do and see. Enjoy this time you have off from school, and be sure to keep your Winter Break classy and cool.
