JSM’s Ultimate Summer Guide Vol. 2

Guess who’s back? Back again? JSM’s Ultimate Summer Guide’s back. Tell a friend.

Guess who’s back? Guess who’s back?

Guess who’s back? Guess who’s back?

Guess who’s back? Guess who’s back?

Ok, you get the point. We are back with a fresh collection of summer time jams to enjoy on these sunny days. Song’s whose lyrics are replete with subtle hints of fun things to do in Champaign during the warm months. Without further ado (again), here is Volume Two!

“Summertime and the living’s easy” – Summertime by Sublime

A classic song and one that has a smooth beat and catchy chorus which make it very easy to pretend the song isn’t about infidelity. I guess what I’m suggesting is that you don’t use your noodle too much while cruising with your windows down and this Sublime track flowing through the speakers. While you are out and about, why don’t you pop over to the corner of Sixth and Green for a little Noodles and Company? Yeah, that’s right “noodles” is the only connection here. And you thought my LFO promo was a leap? You have no idea how high I can soar.

“It’s not having what you want, it’s wanting what you’ve got” – Soak Up the Sun by Sheryl Crow

This lighthearted pop diddy is all about enjoying moments of sunshine, both literally and metaphorically. Sheryl reminds us joy can be found in what it right in front of us, and I’ll encourage you do to the same. Sure, I love a good JSM retailer recommendation, but let’s talk what you get simply by being a JSM resident: exclusive access to the new JSM Fitness Center. Located at 707 Sixth Street this well-equipped gym is available to tenants at no extra cost. In spite of how much Sheryl enjoys the sun, working out in it can be a real bummer. So stay cool in this A/C’ed space while working out this summer.

“Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer, you'll wish that summer could always be here” – Those Lazy-Hazy-Crazy Days of Summer by Nat King Cole

Shout out to all my Gilmore Girl’s fans with this one! Here we have an insanely catchy song from 1963 that will be stuck in your head for at least a month. But you’ll find its sweet and simple melody doesn’t grate on you like many other earworms do. In fact, its delightful chorus kinds of buoys you along and makes you want to enjoy an ice cream while strolling along Green Street. Plus, it’s common knowledge that ice cream is far superior in a cone. And, well, wouldn’t you know it, Cold Stone Creamery on Green Street offers a free waffle cone (or bowl) to all JSM VIP Members aka you! Pop in and enjoy a cool treat and then hit the streets with a skip on your step as Nat King Cole croons you through a lazy, hazy, crazy day of summer.
