This year JSM is hosting a food drive that will benefit the Eastern Illinois Food Bank. This is a great way to help the community and any donation is very much appreciated. Here are some of the best things that you could donate to a food drive.
MOST WANTED
According to the Eastern Illinois Food Bank website, these are the items that they are looking for most:
- Canned meats
- Canned complete meals (Spaghettios, ravioli, etc.)
- Canned beans
- Canned veggies
- Canned fruits
- Boxed meals
- Peanut Butter
Some other ideas…
- Juice boxes
- Toiletries (toothpaste, deodorant, feminine products, soap, shampoo, conditioner)
- Spices (Garlic powder, salt, pepper, cinnamon)
- Holiday Foods (Yams, boxed stuffing, cranberry sauce)
- Unsalted Nuts
- Shelf-stable milk
- Pasta
- Canned Stew
- Oatmeal
- Honey
- Chicken/Beef/Vegetable Broth
- Brown Rice
- Quinoa
- Canola Oil or Olive Oil
- Soup
- Cereal
- Granola Bars
- Popcorn
- Canned tomatoes
- Applesauce
- Crackers
- Instant mashed potatoes
- Macaroni and cheese
- Trail mix

- Cleaning products
- Pet food
REMEMBER:
- Canned goods with pop-top lids are preferred over canned goods that require the use of a can opener.
- Do not donate food that is past the expiration date.
- NO glass containers!
- NO open containers or homemade food
