It seems that 2019 has been the year of tidying up! Thanks to Marie Kondo’s Netflix special, people have been de-cluttering and keeping only what “sparks joy” more than ever. Now that spring is in full swing, it’s time to get a jump on spring cleaning. Here are the top four reasons that you should clean your space!
You’ll feel less stressed
We’ve all been there. Maybe you hit snooze one too many times and now you’re running late for class or work. You rush to get ready, but you can’t find anything you need. You’re digging through your closet, rummaging through your laundry basket...where did you leave your car keys? Did you put your laptop in your backpack? When your space is messy, it makes finding things (especially when you may be on a time constraint) incredibly stressful. When you clean up your area and make sure that things are where they belong, it will make your life go much smoother overall.
You’ll be more productive
This one goes along with the first reason! Now that you’ll be saving time by not having to look for all the things that you need, you will be able to spend more time actually getting things done. Instead of spending twenty minutes trying to remember where you dumped your textbook after the last time you used it, you’ll be able to get to work quicker and get done faster.
You’ll always be ready for friends to come over
You can invite your friends to come over at the drop of a hat and not have to worry about frantically trying to shove that laundry you should have done last week behind your closet doors. No matter what the occasion, you’ll be ready to invite people to come hang out and you won’t be embarrassed by an unorganized space.
You’ll Save Money
Have you ever gone to the store and bought something, not remembering that you already had it at home already? Sometimes when our spaces become cluttered and we are not able to see our belongings, we forget about the things that we already have...and may end up repurchasing things that we don’t need! Save yourself some money and become re-acquainted with the items that you already own.
So queue up Marie Kondo on Netflix and get ready to tidy. Happy spring cleaning!
