JSM Development Announces the Attraction of National Retailer, Panera Bread Company, back to 

Campustown

 

Champaign based developer, JSM Development is pleased to announce it has a secured a long term lease with 

Panera Bread Company for space at its Campustown location of 616 East Green Street, Champaign. Panera

plans to extensively remodel the retail location with a spring opening planned.

 

Panera will occupy over 4,000 square feet on the first floor of the building. Panera operates 1,230 company 

owned and franchise operated bakery-cafes in 40 states and Canada. Presently, Panera operates two stores in 

the Champaign-Urbana market. 

 

“JSM is very pleased to be able to bring Panera back to Campustown. Panera will be a tremendous addition to 

Campustown and to our building at 616 East Green. JSM has worked with Panera for several years trying to 

identify a location in Campustown to meet their needs and bring them back to Campustown.” stated Jill Guth,

JSM Development owns over 950 student apartments near the University of Illinois campus as well as 315,000 

square feet of commercial space in Champaign-Urbana. JSM recently completed the Urban Outfitters building 

at 507 E Green Street, as well as Phase II of Gregory Place in the east campus area. JSM is preparing to break 

ground on a mixed use development in the Uptown Normal area, adjacent to the Illinois State University
