How to Make the Most of Your Summer

Now that the summer is here, you may have a little more free time than usual on your hands! Here are some great ways to make the most of your summer.

    Take a Trip

Summer is the perfect time to go for an adventure. Whether you want to try taking a trip abroad, a crazy road trip, or just a little weekend away, now is the time!

    Make Connections

If you have a summer job or internship, this is the perfect time to work on networking and making connections. This will especially help you later on as you try to look for future internships or career paths.

    Take a Class

The summer is a great time to get ahead on some credit hours. Why not take a class or two and get ahead?

    Read (for fun!)

During the school year you’re getting dumped with tons and tons of reading...and it’s probably not all on topics you’re excited to read about. Take some time during the summer to read books for leisure. Head to your local library or go to a bookstore and get cracking. If reading isn’t really your thing, look into an audiobook subscription like audible. I absolutely love listening to audiobooks as it gives me the ability to “read” while I’m doing things like driving, working out, or cooking dinner.

    Get In Shape

If you’ve got some time on your hands, it is the perfect time to get in shape! Start a new workout regime and stick to it! If you’re a JSM Resident, you have free access to the JSM Fitness Center, located at Lando Place. This means that you have full access to a variety of strength and cardio machines to help you reach all of your fitness goals!

    Explore

Whether you’re spending the summer in your hometown or you’re here on campus, there is so much to explore. No matter how well you think you know an area, there is always more to be found. Try that restaurant you’ve always passed but never been to, talk a walk around the park down the street, or check out a little boutique. There is always more to explore!
