How to Handle the End of the Semester

The end of the semester is a hectic time. Between class projects, finals, upcoming holidays, and more...there’s a lot to do! Here’s our tips on handling the end of the semester.

    Make a Plan

When you know you have a lot to do, the best thing is to create a plan. This will help ensure that you’re not scrambling last minute to get things finished because you will have a clear order in which to accomplish things. What works best for me is creating a checklist. There’s nothing more satisfying than checking something off of your list once it’s finished!

Take it One at a Time

When you start to get overwhelmed at the end of the semester, it can be easy to see everything you have to do as one giant mass of stuff. Instead try to take each thing one at a time. Focus exclusively on the task at hand instead of panicking about other things you have to do. When studying for finals, make sure that you are fully devoting your study time to the subject you are currently working on and that your brain is wandering off to worry about another class. As long as you have created a plan and know you have time for each thing, you should be fine focusing on the one you’re working on in the moment.

    Take Care of Yourself

Although you have a ton of stuff to do, make sure that you are not neglecting to take care of yourself. It’s a busy time and self care is important too. This does NOT mean you should give yourself permission to take a week off of doing any of your responsibilities in order to “treat yourself”, but make sure that you are taking time to blow off steam. Grab coffee with a friend or head over to the JSM Fitness Center to get a quick workout in.

The end of the semester can be very stressful, but you’re almost there! Power through and rock the last few weeks of the fall semester.
